This paper studied the effect of steam reactivation on the pore characteristics of calcium‐based (Ca‐based) absorbent at temperatures of 150‐600d̀C. With a mercury porosimeter, the influence of steam reactivation on the micro‐pores was studied. The effects of steam reactivation on the external morphology were evidenced by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) photographs. At the same time, the fractal dimension was calculated. It is found that the conversion enhancement of Ca‐based absorbent was attributed to the improved pore characteristics of absorbent and the reduced diffusion resistance of SO 2 into the pores.
