The free radical copolymerization, initiated by 2, 2′ azo‐bis‐isobutyronitrile (AIBN), of acrylonitrile (AN) and vinyl acetate (VAc) in bulk has been examined. Reactivity ratios were evaluated using the error in variables model (EVM). In addition, full conversion range experiments were undertaken, which examined polymerization rate, molecular weight development and copolymer composition with respect to the effects of feed composition, initiator concentration and temperature.
