A hybrid combined cycle electrical power generating scheme burning coal and natural gas is examined using the ECLIPSE chemical process simulator. The technical, environmental and economic performance of this system is presented and comparisons are made with conventional power generation technologies. These comparisons show that the hybrid combined cycle offers improvements in efficiency, CO 2 emissions and cost.
