On the basis of the M‐factor theory, A new piece‐wise equation of state has been developed elsewhere for prediction of compressibility factor. On the basis of this model, a novel model for the special case of Tr<1.1 together with a specialized parameter was developed also. Critical modification on the model is proposed and applied in this work as a result of critical assessment of model application in solute solubility prediction in supercritical carbon dioxide. Two relationships were obtained for S 12 that must be implemented together with this equation of state. Using this new modified model, the solubility prediction/correlation will be a straightforward calculation. © 2014 Curtin University of Technology and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
