Abstract The centrosymmetric {[(HOOCCH 2 PPh 2 )] 2 (CH 2 ) 4 } 2+ cation adopts an extended conformation in which the phosphorus center adopts a tetrahedral geometry. OH···O and CH···O hydrogen bonding interactions expand this structure to form a two‐dimensional layered architecture. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
