Four novel triarylbismuth(V) di( N ‐salicylidene)amino carboxylates were synthesized. Their structures were confirmed by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of (2‐HOC 6 H 4 CHNCH 2 CO 2 ) 2 BiPh 3 was determined by X‐ray diffraction. The in vitro cytotoxicity of all compounds against three human cancer cells (HL‐60, BGC‐823 and MDA‐MB‐435) at 10 µ M are reported. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
