Some new penta‐and hexa‐coordinated diorganotin complexes of heterocyclic β‐diketones having the general formula (n‐C 4 H 9 ) 2 Sn(OPr 1 ) 2− n [RCOC:CON(C 6 H 5 ) N:CCH 3 ] n (where RCH 3 , C 6 H 5 and p ‐ClC 6 H 4 and n = 1 and 2) have been synthesized and were screened for their insecticidal activity against Rhizopertha dominica (Fabricius), the lesser grain borer. The hexa‐coordinated complexes have been observed to be more active than the penta‐coordinated complexes.
