Recent research results on biologically active organogermanium compounds are described. Emphasis is placed on two categories based on (1) carbethoxyethylgermanium sesquioxide and (2) the ‘spirogermanium’ system. Other organogermanium derivatives covered include various mono‐, di‐, tri‐ and tetra‐compounds. Mention is also made of organogermanium compounds as food additives and as the products of biological methylation.
