Abstract We have described a novel and efficient method for synthesizing cyclic carbonates with ‘Co (NO 3 ) 2 . 6H 2 O/ L6 ’‐catalyzed coupling of epoxides and CO 2 under solvent‐free conditions. We proposed a possible reaction mechanism based on some control experiments. Phenylpropiolic acid could be provided by using the same method.
