A novel magnetic composite catalyst has been prepared by immobilizing a chiral diamine on core/shell Fe 3 O 4 /ZnO. This new catalyst was characterized using X‐ray diffraction, energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and vibrating sample magnetometry. The performance of the catalyst was investigated in the asymmetric Kinugasa reaction and confirmed to be efficient in the synthesis of β‐lactam derivatives under mild conditions.
