Fifteen compounds based on (2‐phenyl‐2‐methylpropyl)dicyclohexyltin O,O ‐dialkyldithiophosphates have been synthesized by the reaction of (2‐phenyl‐2‐methylpropyl)dicyclohexyltin chloride with potassium O,O ‐dialkyldithiophosphoric acids. Their structure and composition were characterized by 1 H NMR, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X‐ray diffraction. The structure of PhMe 2 CCH 2 Sn(Cy 2 )S 2 P(OC 6 H 4 t Bu‐4) 2 has been shown to consist of a four‐coordinate tin atom in a slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry. Biological activities were tested for some of the compounds. The results show that these kinds of compound have acaricidal activity. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
