A novel family of LnN complexes was synthesized by two methods and as the Lewis acidic catalysts in application to the cyanosilylation of prochiral ketones and aldehydes, which gave yields > 99% of some cyano trimethylsilyl ethers from the wide range of aldehyde substrates and moderate yields from the ketone substrates at room temperature using 20 mol% catalyst loadings.
