The tris(pentafluoroethyl)silanide anion adds to carbonyl compounds Ph(R)CO (R=Ph, H), CS 2 , and CO 2 , allowing the isolation of novel negatively charged species like [Si(C 2 F 5 ) 3 (η 2 ‐OC(R)Ph)] − (R=Ph, H), [Si(C 2 F 5 ) 3 (η 2 ‐CS 2 )] − , and [Si(C 2 F 5 ) 3 (η 2 ‐CO 3 )] − .
