A mixed‐valent iron oxide with unconventional Fe 5 O 6 stoichiometry was synthesized by S. V. Ovsyannikov and co‐workers, as reported in their Communication on page 5632. Near 275 K, the material undergoes a Verwey‐type charge‐ordering transition that is concurrent with a dimerization in the iron chains and the formation of new Fe−Fe bonds. This unique feature highlights Fe 5 O 6 as a promising candidate for use in innovative applications.
