Dative bonding between the highly reactive silyl cation and water in a protonated silanol was probed with infrared spectroscopy and DFT calculations by O. Dopfer and co‐workers in their Communication on page 2919 ff. The determined structure, bonding, and infrared fingerprint of this simplest but elusive silanol cation may guide its identification in interstellar space as well as in terrestrial silane plasmas used for the fabrication of microelectronic devices.
