Abstract Amidate‐supported two‐ and three‐coordinate Ni I complexes were synthesized by reduction of the corresponding Ni II precursors. A dramatic change in binding mode is observed upon reduction from Ni II to Ni I . The Ni I derivatives include an unprecedented Ni I bis(C−H) agostic complex and a two‐coordinate Ni I complex.
