The combination of CO2and H2… …as building blocks offers attractive synthetic pathways ranging from large‐volume base chemicals to highly functionalized complex molecules. J. Klankermayer, W. Leitner et al. describe in their Review on page 7296 ff. how efficient catalysts are becoming available to master the bond breaking and bond formation events required for these processes like strategic moves on a molecular chess board.
