The cartoon figure is Bajie a character in the Chinese story Journey To The West . In their Communication on page 6438 ff., D. Kim, J. Song, and co‐workers describe the synthesis of β,β‐tripyrrin bridged “earring” porphyrinoids, whose shape is similar to Bajie's head and ears. These porphyrinoids, which exhibit near‐infrared absorption, possess multiple cavities that can complex up to three metal ions (the red badge of Hunan Normal University represents the complexed metal ion in the central cavity).
