Complementary information on electrochemical processes is obtained by measuring the heat effects accompanying electrochemical surface reactions (middle). The reaction entropy of the electrodeposition of silver on a Au(111) surface (bottom) was thus obtained by R. Schuster et al., as described in their Communication on page 4688 ff. A typical cyclic voltammogram of silver underpotential deposition in sulfuric acid solution (left) and the reaction entropy during the course of an electrochemical experiment (right) are also shown.
