By focusing a low‐intensity laser on black microbeads, a large temperature jump can be achieved within milliseconds, as described by H. Mao and co‐workers in their Communication on page 3470 ff. The temperature variation in a yoctoliter volume was measured by exploiting the mechanochemical properties of individual DNA hairpins.
