Activation by light : Caged depsipeptides are incorporated as photoresponsive elements into the backbone of the protein SDF‐1α by using expressed protein ligation. The disturbed secondary structure is restored after UV treatment by an O→N acyl rearrangement, and the chemotactic potential of the protein is regained. Nvoc=6‐nitroveratryloxycarbonyl.
