A two‐dimensional morphology characterizes the nanoflakes that are obtained in the bottom‐up synthesis of a single‐crystalline coordination polymer, Ni(H 2 O) 2 [Ni(CN) 4 ]⋅ x  H 2 O. The 10 nm‐thick nanoflakes are well‐dispersed in solution and have a very high accessible surface area (240 m 2  g −1 ). Thermal treatment leads to nanoporous NiO with retention of the original flake morphology.
