Kinetic and mechanistic studies on the intermolecular activation of strong CH bonds of alkanes by a (salen)ruthenium(VI) nitride were performed. The initial, rate‐limiting step, the hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) from the alkane to Ru VI N, generates Ru V NH and RC . HCH 2 R. The following steps involve N‐rebound and desaturation.
