It takes two : Xantphos ligands that contain amidate groups are selective for the linear versus the branched‐chain products in the rhodium‐catalyzed hydroformylation of 1‐octene. However, the catalyst only undergoes CO 2 ‐mediated phase switching in the presence of amidine‐substituted triphenylphosphine (see scheme).
