Touching the surface : Well‐defined TaON and Ta 3 N 5 nanoparticles were fabricated by a SiO 2 ‐surface‐assisted urea method, in which silica catalyzes CN x formation from urea. Such controlled nitridation endows the nanoparticles with improved activity and tunable selectivity for alkene epoxidation because of the increased electron density around Ta and surface basicity.
