High or low? A square Fe II 4 compound exhibits complete thermally and optically activated transition from four low‐spin (LS) centers to four high‐spin (HS) centers in two steps (see plot of magnetic susceptibility). Reversible desorption and resorption of guest water molecules causes a single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal transformation.
