In a stable condition : The first example of a non‐IPR hollow fullerene that is more stable than the IPR isomer has been reported for the C 2 v ‐C 72 fullerene (see picture). This molecule has been trapped by the exohedral chlorination reaction that affords the #11188 C 72 Cl 4 molecule, the structure of which has been unambiguously determined by X‐ray analyses.
