Alumina in flow : Information obtained from in situ synchrotron powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) measurements was used to develop the first large‐scale, rapid, one‐step synthesis of γ‐Al 2 O 3 . The data suggest a reaction mechanism that does not involve crystalline intermediates, and γ‐Al 2 O 3 was prepared at low temperature in a continuous‐flow reactor using aluminum isopropoxide in 2‐propanol/water without subsequent calcination.
