Dual imaging agent : A fluorescent Tb III complex coupled to Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles and bearing a folic acid residue (see picture) shows superparamagnetism, low cytotoxicity, and high cell uptake, and thus can be used for in vitro fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging of cells that overexpress the folate receptor, such as HeLa cells.
