Gotcha! Unstable dithio‐ and diselenobenzoquinones can be trapped by coordination to an [(η 5 ‐C 5 Me 5 )Ir] moiety (see structure; gray C, white H, pink Ir, yellow Se). In vitro investigations on the anticancer activity of the resulting complexes showed them to be comparable to cis ‐platin. These organometallic species could form the basis for new anticancer agents.
