After the scattering comes the gathering : Abstracting the bromide ligand from the novel oxoboryl complex trans ‐[(Cy 3 P) 2 BrPt(BO)] has dramatic consequences: instant cyclodimerization takes place, yielding an ionic compound. The cation has an unprecedented bridging dioxodiboretanediyl ligand (see picture).
