A smart fluid containing BaTiO 3 nanoparticles was synthesized by a chemical solution process. The transparent and homogeneous fluid (see picture) changes its rheological properties in response to an electric field. Formation of aligned structures from nanoparticles under shear stress (arrow) was confirmed by 3D confocal fluorescence microscopy (white dots: fluorescein‐modified nanoparticles).
