Opposites attract : A Pt‐around‐Au nanocomposite is synthesized by electrostatic self‐assembly (see picture; PDDA=poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)). This catalyst shows significantly improved activity towards formic acid oxidation versus pure Pt catalysts. The possible reason is the efficient spillover of HCOO from Au to the surrounding Pt nanoparticles, where HCOO is further oxidized to CO 2 .
