Collection, sensitization, and selection are the tasks of the organocatalyst 1 , which it fulfills almost perfectly in the photochemical conversion of quinolone 2 . It collects light ( λ >350 nm), transfers its energy to the substrate, and induces a high enantioselectivity. Even with only 10 mol % of catalyst, a yield of 90 % was achieved with an ee value of 92 %.
