Molecular uranium nitrides would be useful precursors for the synthesis of pure uranium nitride materials, which are an attractive potential alternative to uranium oxides as nuclear fuel. In their Communication on page 3040 ff. M. Mazzanti and co‐workers describe the synthesis of an azido/nitrido uranium cluster dense in uranium and nitrogen by the oxidation of simple U III iodide by using a uranium heptaazide as an effective nitride source. The cover background shows the steam towers of a nuclear power station (artwork G. Nocton).
