Looking to the future : The decomposition in solution of a potential hydrogen‐storage compound, ammonia borane (AB), was investigated by in situ 11 B NMR spectroscopy and ex situ 15 N NMR spectroscopy. The reaction was found to be second order in AB with an activation barrier of (25±2) kcal mol −1 . The second‐order kinetics have implications for the use of solutions containing AB in high concentrations for hydrogen storage.
