UN‐beatable? Laser‐ablated uranium atoms activate NF 3 and PF 3 to form the NUF 3 and PUF 3 molecules containing novel terminal nitride and phosphide functional groups. These molecules are identified from matrix infrared spectra and theoretical methods. The NUF 3 molecule contains the strongest triple bond to uranium in a ternary compound.
