Under pressure : The new modification Ge( hR 8) is obtained upon pressurization of clathrate‐type Ge( cF 136) or controlled decompression of a Ge( tI 4)‐type high‐pressure phase. The atomic arrangement comprises four‐bonded germanium atoms with a topological organization bearing remarkable similarity to high‐pressure host–guest assemblies of other main‐group elements.
