Unusual Carbenes : 2,2′‐Bipyridine and 1,10‐phenanthroline are capable of coordinating to iridium as monodentate N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands stabilized by NH⋅⋅⋅N bonding. This reactivity leads to complexes like 1 and their analogues with 2 as the carbene ligand. [Ir]: [hydrotris(3,5‐dimethylpyrazolyl)borate]iridium.
