Asymmetric conjugate addition of bis(pinacolato)diboron to α,β‐unsaturated carbonyl compounds would provide easy access to enantioenriched functionalized organoboron compounds, which are useful intermediates in organic synthesis. In their Communication on page 145 ff., J.‐E. Lee and J. Yun describe the enantioselective β‐boration of α,β‐unsaturated esters and nitriles using a copper catalyst and planar chiral diphosphine ligands.
