Like a sponge : Soft, three‐dimensional, porous coordination frameworks {[Ln(tci)⋅H 2 O]⋅4 H 2 O} n (Ln=Ce, Gd; tciH 3 =tris(2‐carboxyethyl)isocyanurate] were prepared from Ln(NO 3 ) 3 ⋅ x H 2 O and tciH 3 . The flexible arms and secondary functional groups of the ligand allow the framework to show spongelike dynamic behavior such as selective and stepwise adsorption, associated with single crystal to single crystal structural transformation (see scheme).
