Holding a Pt 0 anion in a pincer: Reduction of the pincer‐type Pt II complex 1 results in the formation of the thermally stable anionic Pt 0 complex 2 . This complex adopts a T‐shaped structure and exhibits diverse reactivity, including efficient electron‐transfer processes in which 2 is re‐oxidized quantitatively to Pt II . Protonation of 2 with water gives a Pt II hydride complex, and CF activation under mild conditions leads to 3 (see scheme).
