A two‐step synthesis method is used to prepare gold‐on‐ceria nanorods, nanocubes, and nanopolyhedra (see picture), and a strong shape‐effect of CeO 2 on the water–gas shift reaction activity of the catalysts is identified. Gold on the (110) facets of ceria nanorods shows the highest activity.
