Balls and bunches : [Au 7 (PPh 3 ) 7 ]C 60 ⋅THF (see picture) and [Au 8 (PPh 3 ) 8 ](C 60 ) 2 are the first intercluster compounds consisting of gold clusters and fullerides. The interplay between long‐range Coulomb interactions and short‐range CH–π and π–π interactions is responsible for the formation of well‐crystalline compounds with a conspicuous segregation of the cations' and anions' partial structures.
