Chemicals come clean : Calcium oxide doped with small amounts of sodium oxide is used as catalyst in the abatement of N 2 O by ethane to produce H 2 and ethylene. The ethylene yield and the H 2 /C 2 H 4 ratio are similar to those in the industrial steam cracking of ethane. The suggested process has potential for N 2 O removal in the production of adipic and nitric acid (see picture).
