Early birds catching the worms : Early transition‐metal hydrazides can now be considered to be masked metallanitrenes that are unmasked by an NN bond activation step. Recent progress includes isolation of complexes in which migration of the group masking the metallanitrene nitrogen atom is coupled with take‐up of a new substrate S (see scheme).
