Roll model : A new “shape‐transformation” concept (see picture) that proceeds through a rolling out of 1D tungsten oxide nanorods for the fabrication of laterally confined 2D WS 2 nanosheet crystals has been developed. The resulting 2D WS 2 nanosheet crystals show a significantly enhanced discharge capacity for applications in lithium ion batteries owing to their 2D nanoscale characteristics.
