One for the road : The potential‐energy hyperface along the pathway of the formation of an abasic site (P abasic ) suggests that low‐energy electrons (LEEs) might induce the formation of such a site at the 3′ end of a DNA double helix with the strand ended in a cytidine residue. Attachment of these LEEs to a DNA helix might significantly contribute to radiation‐induced DNA damage. TS=transition state.
