See‐through coats : A hydrocarbonsoluble dimeric calcium monofluoride is prepared (see structure; green Ca, purple F, red O, blue N, orange C). This compound is a precursor for the preparation of thin layers of transparent CaF 2 at room temperature by dip‐coating.
