A buckyball sandwich : The depicted reaction produces cis ‐ 1 and cis ‐ 2 (see picture), in which the fullerene is sandwiched between two different clusters. Variable‐temperature 1 H NMR spectra reveal that cis ‐ 1 and cis ‐ 2 are interconvertible and cis ‐ 2 exists as two isomers.
